British TRRL Pendulum Skid Resistance Tester

The British TRRL tester is used for measuring the wet (usually with water) slip resistance of existing floor surfaces, and for measuring the wet slip resistance of new flooring materials prior to installation. The test results enable determination be made on the risk of pedestrians slipping on these floor surfaces.

The British TRRL tester is the instrument specified in joint Australian/New Zealand Standard AS/NZS 4663:2002 entitled "Slip Resistance Measurement of Existing Pedestrian Surfaces" for measuring the wet slip resistance (in terms of dynamic coefficient of friction) of pedestrian floor surfaces. The British TRRL tester is also one of the instruments specified in joint Australian/New Zealand Standard AS/NZS 4586:1999 entitled "Slip Resistance Classification Of New Pedestrian Surface Materials" for measuring the wet slip resistance of new pedestrian floor surface materials.

Tortus Floor Friction Tester

The Tortus tester is used for measuring the dry slip resistance of existing floor surfaces, and for measuring the dry slip resistance of new flooring materials prior to installation. The test results enable determination be made on the risk of pedestrian foot slippage on these floor surfaces.

Joint Australian/New Zealand Standard AS/NZS 4663:2002 entitled "Slip Resistance Measurement of Existing Pedestrian Surfaces" specified the British Tortus tester for measuring the dry slip resistance (in terms of dynamic coefficient of friction) of pedestrian floor surfaces.

The Tortus tester is also the instrument specified in joint Australian/New Zealand Standard AS/NZS 4586:1999 entitled "Slip Resistance Classification Of New Pedestrian Surface Materials" for measuring the dry slip resistance of new pedestrian floor surface materials.

Mecmesin Advanced Force Gauge

The Mecmesin Advanced Force Gauge enables accurate on-site measurement of tensile and compressive forces, including those exerted during manual handling tasks, eg, lifting, pulling, pushing and turning forces.

This force gauge has a measurement range of 0 to 1000 Newtons with +- 1 Newton accuracy. It has a data sampling rate of 5000 Hz. The accompanying Mecmesin Dataplot software enables accurate determination of the maximum, minimum and average force values obtained during a particular measurement. Smart self calibration check option built into this force gauge, and annual calibration check by an accredited laboratory, ensure accurate measurement results at all times.

For a manual handling task, the forces measured by this force gauge can be utilised in the objective risk assessment of the task with the aid of the University Of Michigan 3D Static Strength Prediction Program™ software and/or the University Of Michigan Energy Expenditure Prediction Program™ software.
